Been trying Moe... apparently they're hard to get at the moment. Plus, it gives me incentive for hitting the road. I don't want to call ahead because it will ruin the element of suprise, and none of the stores are out of my way.

I was actually in San Fran a couple weeks ago and stopped in a couple LFS's while I was there. No luck, but it's not like it would have mattered anyway since I wouldn't want to put it in my carry on luggage

Geez Steve, you weren't kidding, they do seem to be tough to find. I searched on Google and this place has them www.marinecenter.com/fish/triggers but they don't tell you whether it's in stock and they say that it is infrequently available, fairly pricey too!

Maybe try posting it in the Critters section, you never know, maybe someone has one and is looking to sell for whatever reason.

One reason they are not available very often is they are usually found in deep reef habitats...100 feet or greater...making them difficult to collect...the need to be brought up very slowly or placed in a pressurized container where they can be artificially "decompressed"...

...they can be placed in an aquaclear filter at depth...and sealed in at depth...then when they are brought up...you can keep the canister pressurized and decrease the pressure over several hours...a depth gauge is placed in the container(also at depth), so you can see the depth they are at at each step of the decompression...

...alot of work and time for a great fish...but explains their rarity in the trade...
