I have soooo many baby skunks......

Something caught my eye earlier today. Couldn't tell if it was a firefish or a skunk baby. Well.....there is a hole in my LR that is infested with skunk shrimp.

What are the chances these will live to see adulthood while the fish are in QT for the next month and a half?

if there are no predators in the tank they should be good. just make sure to feed small enough food for them

From what I understand and could be wrong, it is nearly impossible if that is even what they are.

I fed the tank very small food tonight because I wanted to see if I could draw out what I was seeing earlier today....worked very well. :D

Baby skunk cleaner shrimp look like tiny clear shrimp that float near the surface upsidedown. Up close they look like little angels. What you are seeing in the rocks are not baby shrimp, but probably adult mysis. They run around really fast and are large enough to see them carrying pieces of dirt and food.

Skunk cleaners have not yet been successfully raised in a hobbyist setting, but I think it was done in a lab once after several years of research.

That's too bad because I'd love to raise a few to give away at meetings. I assume they are skunks because of the red stripe down the back of the shrimp...I'm very new to reefs and could easily be wrong!

Well why don't you just throw a couple bricks in my sinking row boat? :D

Is it common for more mature mysis to have very pronounced red stripe down the back?

Just think of it as free food.

yup they do have red stripes, specially if you feed the tank cyclopseeze. They good news is that they are naturally reproducing and fantastic food for everything in the system as well as being a boost to your cleanup crew. You just can't charge $25 each for them :p

Take my high hopes and kick them to the curb. :o :D :p

Didn't I post this in your other thread?
