I need to buy a skimmer tomorrow

There isn't a whole plate on the base of the skimmer that the motor attaches to.....it's sole attachment point is at the skimmer input in single pass, and the input and recirc port in recirc mode.

I guess you get the base plate for the extra thousand bucks on the BK :D

That sounds like a well thought out design.

The pump isn't attached to the baseplate on a BK. It sits on it and has little spiked rubber feet.

No, that's for the red pvc. ;)

all this, and JohnK stops by tonight and says...hey, yeah, I can probably fix the old one, upgrade it, and it will be even better than it was

One step at a time, first I have to fix the two gaping holes in it (then design and build a bottom box, bubble diffuser, hack the bottom off of it, and make it all go together). Hopefully it will all come together ;)

That said, that cone looks like it really cranks - It looked like near solid poo was coming out, and fast

Did Jay have a relieved look on his face when he answered the door?...

Sorry to bring up an old thread...but I just wanted to "clear the air" of the allegations earlier of MS trying to defraud FedEx.

Jay's skimmer shipped in one piece, brand new everything other than the pump and volute. We didn't have any new ones, so (like Jay said), I pulled the pump off of the demo skimmer we had running in the shop so that Jay could get a running skimmer ASAP. FedEx damaged the skimmer in transit (they had broken 2 other skimmers that week :(), and when we went to file a claim we realized that in my rush to get the skimmer to FedEx before they closed at 9, that I forgot to put the extra insurance on the skimmer...so MS had to eat FedEx's destruction of Jay's skimmer. We replaced the entire unit with a brand new skimmer, pump, volute, and PW when we received the shipment of new product.

Thanks for listening ;)

I'll 100% agree with that assertion, and again, could not speak more positively of the response and interaction I had with MSX. This skimmer pulls some serious nog when it's dialed in, and even at nearly a grand shipped, etc, I would buy it again after running it for the last 9 months.

Now Jeff, get out here for the conference and show these Boston area reefers how these things crank :D
