I wish I didn't....

Greetings fellow reefers,
The experiences of other reefers are an indispensable tool in this hobby. Sometimes based on hard science and other times based on plain old preference, we have strong opinions on what we did right and what we did wrong.
Where do feel you have gone wrong or perhaps could have done better with your tank?
I will start.

I wish I didn't use ultra fine sand as my substrate.

It just blows around everywhere.

On a more serious note, I wish I had added all the extra flow in my tanks to begin with ... would've prevented a bunch of casualties ...

I wish I had known I would want more space outside the tank, behind the front wall on the sides so I could incorporate more flow.

As is now, I have no access to the sides of the tank and can't install down low and out in front where I want them.

I just purchased some corals that have two small pulsing Xenia as hitchhikers they look nice now but............Think I should deep six them?

I wish I can just buy what I want the first time. Instead I've been settling having to try to sell and trying to re buy what I wanted the first time anyways! Also, My frags are near each other too. Some just started to encrust on the rock. Daaang!

Two things. Forgot how important strong flow in the tank is and using the stand I have. My stand doesn't allow me to fit a big sump and skimmer underneath it.

I wish I had cemented my rocks together so I didn't have to worry about an avalanche everytime I try to glue a new frag or move an old one.

Jim, I have pulsating xenias. It is still one of my favorite corals. It will only live in one of my tanks so I can never break that one down. If they spread too much, just rip them out. They are easily removed and are not toxic - at least not for me.

I think we all go through it. Sure those zoas, green star polyps, yellow polyps or mushrooms are great but after the tank been set up for three years you'll grow to hate them as the choke out the SPS and LPS you just put in.
