Tankless
I just found some redbugs on one of my acros. I wanted to let everyone know that has received frags from me so they know. Luckily I have only traded LPS corals lately, so I think everyone should be safe. Although these bugs aren't "that bad" I apologize if I inadvertently got them in your tank.:(

Steve - how did that happen? Do you dip for red bugs when you get new frags? If so, in what, how much and for how long? Just trying to figure out what could've happened to prevent it from happening again to you and anyone else.

Sorry to hear that Steve, what a PITA they are. :(

Steven,
Any idea where you got them? PM me if you dont want to make public accusations (I'll tell you where I got mine from )

To be honest, I'm a repeat offender of not dipping corals if I get them from certain people in this club. I have only bought acros from those specific people, so I don't know if they came on one of those corals or not. But, I haven't added an acro in my tank for a long time, so I'm not sure where it came from.

No idea.

I was wondering if the little buggers made it through a dip, but I guess we'll never know.

If it helps, I dipped that frag in Lugols last night for 15 minutes and they all came off of it. There were about 5 on it all together. I scanned it over with the lens and none were left. I might just pull that entire colony out.

But they could be anywhere in your tank now

I might just pull that entire colony out.
I wouldn't bother - if they're on one, they're on several. Treating the entire tank isn't too big of an issue - ask around, many have done it with few ill effects (losing hermits, shrimp, etc. that they couldn't pull out). Good luck, and you never know, this could be contributing to some of the recession you've been seeing.

I know you will

Mike, that isn't the type of redbug that I have...I have no idea what that is.

pvh, you dip the frag in a solution to kill the redbugs. Last night I dipped the coral in about 3 cups of tank water and 8 drops of Lugols iodine dip.

Just having some fun with you I see your having some fun on another thread with me :p :p :p :p
