im new here, hi guys!

Nitro
As a temp. solution fill a few coke bottles with water and freeze them. Then float them in the tank during the hot days.
Also on the hot days don't run the halides.

These are temporary solutions while you sort out A/C V chiller

Have you tried a fan blowing across the surface of your sump/WD?
You can usually drop a couple of degrees that way.
If you go the direction everyone is suggesting and change out that wet dry to a sump, that will help also (the more water volume the better).
On hot days you might also try a revolving light cycle (as a temp solution) so that only two MHs are on at any given time.

Oh Hey I just say Marvin's post and it reminded me of a temporary chiller that I've used a few times.
Take about 50' of 1/4" -3/8" airline coil it and put it in a 5 gallon bucket full of mostly ice and some water. Use a small power head to slowly water through the tubing and back into your tank.
It's not by any means a long term solution but it sure will help on those extra hot days. I've been able to take down almost 2degrees in a 300 in an emergency.

Just remember the best way to loose 4 degrees is not to look for a method of dropping 4 degrees at once, but to find 4 ways to drop 1 degree.

Good luck ......
and welcome to the club
Marc

great deals on AC at home depot i picked up a 14,500 btu Fedders for $216.30 plus tax

The Fedders a good buy, 10.8 energy efficient, I pu 2!!

I have staggered my MH's so that only 2 are on at a time. Another option is to do a reverse lighting schedule. Have the lights come on at night, when it's cooler. Or in the very early morning. Not ideal for viewing, but better then boiling them

I thought a wet/dry was reffered to as a sump?

Technically it is a sump, but in a practicle sense a big enough tank to fit inside your stand will increase water volume substantially and will be of greater benefit. The larger the water volume, the more stable the system, and like Marc said, you can use fans for evaporative cooling. Plus you can hide all the unsightly gizmos in there, and still have room for a refugium.

What are the dimensions of your stand? I have a 55g (48"x13") that is currently a goldfish tank i have to get rid of before moving in mid-august. Add a couple glass or acrylic baffles and it would probably make a good sump for a tank that size. If you have room, you could set up a refugium beside it, or even baffle it to have an in-sump refugium...

when/where is the meeting? maybe I could get together with you there

Another thought here. If you don't have an RODI water filter to make up your topoff/evaporated water, you should put this close to the top of the list of things to buy. Making water became the biggest hassle to me in this hobby. I bought a RODI unit, a 32 gallon plastic trash can, and a float valve. I now have 20-25 gallons of pure water sitting in my basement at all times. If you have room in the house for it, it makes reefing a lot easier.

got it, a nice 6 stace unit that flows into a drilled 45 gallon tank with a float valve for salt mixing

i'll be there about 6pm & stay a couple of hours
