IO RC Sediment

I made water yesterday and was adding in IO RC today, like usual. I get the sediment stuff and usually clean everything out once or twice a year, but, this time is way above normal. Has anyone ever experienced this level of crap in their newly mixed water? I was thinking of running a 10” RO canister with a sediment filter to get rig of it.

I have never ever seen something like this. Did you get this bucket of salt recently ?

I got the 200g boxes with the bags inside. One bag was cut fresh, the other was a partial from a few weeks ago. This box was probably from 5-6 months ago when Chewy had a sale or promo. It didn’t settle overnight. There’s still that chunky film on top.

The mix pumps are good, heater, AWC pumps, all functioning normally.

Was the barrel coated with sediment before adding the salt?

Was your container clean before making a new batch of saltwater? I would see this over time in my mixing container when i was using IO.

It was pretty clean actually, it’s been far worse. I don’t remember the brown junk free floating around, I remember it sort of just coating things.

I use Instant Ocean all the time. Now and then I see some gray sediment that settles out at the bottom of barrel, but I have never seen that color or had a floating film. I sure wouldn’t trust it as the color concerns me deeply….
Best of luck!

This is highly unusual for RC salt, i would discard this batch.

Ugh. I ran a new 1m filter overnight and it’s a lovely shade of mud today. Looks like I’ll be draining, cleaning, and going into winter with a sparkly mix barrel. What a pain.
