Is it common for Nepthea

To frag itself?Last week I noticed a branch on the sand bed.
Low and behold,the other day it was attached to my live rock.

I was just wondering because my Coral Beauty will nip that coral from time to time.I was curious if it might have nipped a piece off or not.

Strange, my nepthea has never dropped. Grows like a weed though, and has to be cut back every 6 months or so.

Kind of like xenia,huh?
This was on a frag plug and grew to the diameter of the plug.
It's on the sand bed now.Never seemed to do very well up on the rock.

I've had mine mounted on a rock sitting in the sand bed for 3-4 years and it's never spread from that rock.

I've never witnessed it releasing into the water column like mushrooms or xenia, although I could see how it might become a problem if it's mounted on the main rockwork.

Maybe we're talking about different corals here?

Looks like the same thing I have. Mine's a bit greener, but pretty much the same.

IMHE they can also drop in response to stress. Mine didn't drop for 3 years and then it touched my brain for 1/2 sec and it started dropping pieces. It is doing fine now.
