Is My Anemone Going To Split?

Scott G

MAH BALL
I noticed a small line forming in my BTA that my male clown is hosting. Is this a sign of splitting. He has been looking different every day, sometimes long thin tentacles and sometimes short and fat tentacles.

1st pic: long and thin, you can see a small line by the mouth

2nd pic: fat and short

3rd pic: I just thought looked cool, almost like a magnifica :D

Mine just retracted a bit and went under the rock it was attached to. It then came out on both sides, so we didn't watch it happen. Greg just pointed out that there were two instead of one.

I don't know if this experience is typical but here's how my BTAs have split (several times now):

The foot seems to have stretched (going from a roughly circular attachment to the rock to a very oval, elongated attachment...almost appearing like a ribbon). Then the middle of this ribbon of tentacles seemed to narrow and two separate bodies appeared (once they were roughly equal another time one was about a third the size of the other). Then they moved further apart. The whole process lasted about 2 - 3 days. My tulip anemones on the other hand...

yeah when my BTA split it went under the rock it was curled under.. before i knew what was going on.. boom 2 of them

i noticed my rose bubble hiding for a week or two while it split. they pinch the base together and fold inward while developing 1 new mouth and internal components. then they divide in half.
