I'm planing to take down a middle piece wood right near the doors of my 65high stand so i can put in my proflex3 sump under the tank, something like picture below

Ill do this with tank fully stock but perhaps half filled with water.

Any suggestion, recommend or concern before i proceed tomorrow?

Thank you very much
Pong

Do you plan on putting it back in? I think it should be fine as long the stand is of decent quality. That upright piece between the doors isn't really structural, especially on a 3' tank. All you need are sides and crosspieces to keep the stand from folding. My 58 gallon's stand doesn't have a center upright, just an open front and I've had no issue.

Actually the cross piece beam is "sitting" on this piece.

Jay from jayaquatic said he did it all the time with no problem even on bigger tank.

I plan to put it back on but im soooooo nervous thinking of doing it.

It should still be fine. Over a 3' length, you'd have to put FAR more weight in the middle of that top crosspiece than your tank weighs in order to break it :) The weight of the tank is mostly distributed through the corners of the stand.

I guess u'll see the news if it turn out badly then lol

so what is the best way to take it out?

The wooden bar was attached by industrial stregth staples.

If you can get pliers under the staples, you can try to work them out that way. A slotted screwdriver might be easier to wedge under them first and loosen them up a bit. is the tank already on the stand and filled?

Personally,without bracing it somehow,you're taking a chance.Not saying it can't be done.
Have you read the thread how Mark from Melev's reef did a 55 gallon?

I had the same stand on a 75G AGA tank and took it out to put my sump in with no issues. I did however cut a 2x4 and put it a little bit to the side (just far enought for the sump to go in) for support. Just in case since I had a fully stocked tank.

cant i just use a hammer to bang it out?

I have removed mine 4 times will a full 90g in it with no problems. the weight is on the end of the tank not the middle. Big thread on RC about it. I never used a brace.

@Bruno, how did u take it off and back on ?

Use a big flat head to separate the top staple (bottom is glued) . The first time I used a brace because I was shatting my pants!!!!. When you put it back in just throw some screws into it. To be on the safe side if you want drain half of the tank and blast offfff.

Best to use a temporary support during the change out. I use a 2x6 run along the inside of the the stand. I run it from end to end on the back side of the front trim (the piece along the bottom of the tank)& screwed in place. Just keep in mind breaking a full tank is not an option, well not a good option.

The hardest part is breaking the glued joint, once that is free the rest is easy.

I DID IT!! woo yaaa. No headline news for me.

No support what so ever for me, just hammer it right out.
