i would suggest not adding nori or flakes(or atleast limit) to the food as they tend to dry it out and can become a waste when feed. Ive had that issue before the few times Ive made it with a group.

will you be there for the goo making, Steve? I've done this once before and it'd be good to have someone with more experience around to help.

I was wondering if Nori was added, and if so was it a sheet that was broken up?? I am asking because I made some, and I couldnt break it up small enough. I figured I would try cutting it, and in the process sliced the tip of my finger off. OUCH! I figure there had to be an easier way( to cut the Nori, not my finger)?

Thanks Derek

There was some nori in there. I think the pieces were around 1/2" and some made there way to the food processor also.
It tends to break down pretty easily once its been sitting in the goo for awhile.

Try using scissors next time Derek. You might save a finger :p:)

I figured I'd throw it here if people are still reading this. I have my bag of fish goo from the Jan meeting that is up for grabs. I am fighting a LHA and cyano issue, and dont think the fine foods in this help a whole lot, so I am not feeding this for a while. The bag is almost completely full and is yours if you pick it up at my place in Brighton just off of the Pike, or I can bring it to where I work in Natick on Rt. 9. First PM can just come and grab it (if you happened to have some random little frag I wouldnt be opposed :) ) but its free to the first who grabs it. My fish go nuts for it...

...Skeeter...

A big bunch of nori was tossed into the goo. As jamesdong009 said, it was all minced up in a food processor with the rest of the goo so it pretty much blended in. I still see some chunks that made it through the processor though.

A bunch of nori = 3 sheets

We need to make things less chopped next time so there are solid chunks of food in the goo, not so much a liquified product.

Using the products frozen(such as the seafood) in the processor one at a time then mixing will get you bigger chunks of food. Also, using Kombu instead of nori will make heartier pieces for the fish and a bit more nutritious since it is less processed.

I agree. I can bring some dry ice from work and give everything a flash freeze before it goes in the processor.

Thaw out all the small stuff mix it in whole by hand, after the large stuff like shrimp that need to be sized down is run through the food processor.
