Jebao WP 40 wavemaker review

I have 1 Wp-40 in my 90 gallon, and that's enough.I can slosh the water out,if I set it right.:)

There's a guy in Cali that sells them, that's where we got 10 of them. I can send u his email if u need.

I just got a wp40 for my 110 gallon. I wish I got one sooner.....moves a ton of water.

I was using 1 mp40 two tunze 6200 and the wp40's are doing a better job for sure...

can you please elaborate how is it better aside from may be more powerful ?

I just got my WP40 yesterday. Aside from the terrible packaging and terrible terrible instructions mine arrived in one piece and it was easy to figure out. They are shipping with a 12 mode controller now, not sure how new that is but when I googled it people were complaining about the 6 mode one not long ago.
I had 3 wavemakers in my 120g (4x2x2), I took all of them out and replaced them with the WP40. I run it on W2 mode at 75%, this makes a decent wave across my tank. Originally I thought I was going to keep 2 including WP-40 although I didn't see the use. The WP40 does the job. The night sensor worked great when I tested it but I disconnected it, I have my RKE control the night mode. The sensor is on the controller and the controller is nothing special to look at so I hid it under the tank.
Other than that it's relatively quiet, definitely more quiet than the any vortec I've seen and heard.
For $100 if it lasts 2 years I think I got my moneys worth. Seeing as Jebo sells replacement parts I can probably keep it running much longer than that. I've thrown away that much on cheap eBay wavemakers over the past 2 years. Living and learning...

Forgot to ask one thing; anyone use the "Else" mode? It's supposed to simulate a natural reef??

I have had mine for about 2 months on my 75g and love it best 90 bucks I spent, I use it on the the W1 mode

I am. Single WP40 on 125g 6ft tank. However, I am using it with a variable power supply as without it (had to dial down) and given my rockscape Else mode was far too powerful - my corals (hammers, torches) were not as open.

I do prefer ELSE because the other modes made me almost 'seasick' with how they made the corals 'sway'.

I have a wp-25 in my 65 gallon I absolutely love it...its been up and running for a few months and its great. There is a fish store in CT that stocks both sizes so it was easy to get ahold of them!

Where can I order these?

I got mine from fishstreet. Wherever you get them from, I would just be sure you know what warranty you will (or more likely will not) have. So far it seems like fishstreet has been pretty reasonable for the people that have had a problem. BTW, I am not trying to be negative about this at all, just realistic, I really like mine and have not had a problem yet.

I dont leave the jebao on all the time because i feel its just way to powerful to run 24/7 and plus the corals do need a slower current at night to relax.

Is this true? I hadn't heard that before. Do the currents in the oceans calm at night? I've observed the surface calming, but I guess I always thought the surging tides and ocean currents hitting reefs would be pretty much 24/7. Off topic. Sorry.

I've been running two WP40's for about two months. No problems at all. I bought them from Fish Street fully anticipating if I had a problem I was SOL. I have no basis for that, it's just where I set my expectation when I ordered the Chinese knock offs. I also just ordered two DC12,000's today. They are the 3,170 controllable DC return pumps. They are imitations of the RLSS Wavelines (another Chinese manufacturer), but for $150 each including shipping, I have a backup return pump, extra flow, reduced power consumption and much less noise than my current Reeflo Dart/Snapper. I'm guessing on the noise part on the fact that it's a DC motor. Wish me luck with the reliability. I'll report back one is in place and running.

I only have it off between midnight and 6 am. Rest if the time it's on.

The new 40's and 25's have a light sensor and when the lights go out the flow kicks waaaaay down ive been running 25's around the clock for 6 months in 2 tanks and one is a 30g mixed reef with no issues... I don't think there is someone to turn the flow off on a reef in the ocean :)

I have heard that the light sensors were not the greatest on these so I just hooked it up to an open port on my apex. I agree, there is no one shutting off flow in the ocean. I have other powerheads in the tank that I leave running 24/7 that's why I shut the jebao off for a few hours without worry. There are natural low/high tides in the ocean. Giving the corals a few hours of more of a "calm" flow rather then a high flow the remaining hours helps simulate the low/high tides IMO. But everyone has their own opinions...

Yeah totally the sensors are not anything special just a 2 pronged little ball you stick into the controller ... i could see why people would have an issue with them if they move the controller around a lot they fall out easy..mine is mounted so i dont have the issue. They seem to work great the lights go off and the flow goes down but my 2 tanks are small 30 and a 65 so i dont have multiple power heads running so i see why you would do that.
