Just got my RODI filter

Hi everyone, I just got my RODI and was wondering why it's dripping so slowly? It is a 75GPD filter. However the waste water going to the drain is a lot, I know it should be about 3-4 gallon for 1 gallon of pure water. But it seems like it's about 10-15 to 1 ratio. Is there something I'm supposed to adjust? I notice there is a valve, I think it's call a flow restrictor. Am I supposed to adjust it so that I get a slower waste flow?

If it is set to close then there won't be any waste water going out.

It is supposed to drip slowly and not be a fast steady flow. Also, depending on your water pressure in your house that may be effecting how slowly/quickly you are producing water.

I noticed that if I set this valve to a little more than half open my pure water out is at a faster rate than if i had the valve fully open.

Which position should I put the valve at then? Open, halfway, or close?

The valve should be fully closed. It sounds like that is the flush valve for the membrane. Open the valve and let the water flush the membrane for a couple of minutes....I do this weekly.

I'm not sure...if I close this valve then where does the waste water go? In the diagram it said this goes to the drain. Just wondering what the valve is for, does it control the amount of waste water going out? If so why? I know it does have some effect on the amount of pure water coming out.

RODI water

I find that when the water is ice cold in this weather it slows the ratio rate greatly as compared to when the water temp is warmer. IMO
