The only noticable difference I know of between the ice melt version of DSW Mag and the DSW technical grade from the group buy is the flake size. It's probably just broken up a bit more for mechanical spreading. Greg Hiller ran some tests on an ice melt sample I sent him. If I remember correctly, he said he found no other difference.
