Just venting for now!

Well I went out & picked up a new pH probe yesterday & a few other goodies ( Thanks Jeremy ) only to find out my new reactor is leaking at the cover. I checked the O ring to see if it is seated correctly. The trouble shooting guide says tighten cover or you may be over feeding the reactor. I checked the feed by just letting it fly into a bucket. It is half the flow of a MJ400 and the manufacturer recommends a MJ1200  I am waiting to hear back from Geo to see if the O ring channel may be machined incorrectly. Just a guess...

I had the same problem with a MRC reactor. Coating the O-ring with vasoline and going just a little tighter on the screws did the trick. I think it was mainly an issue of having the nerve to tighten the plastic screws just a tiny bit more than it seems you should.

Thanks John, I will try the vasoline. As far as the screws I was a bit nervous at first but the more it leaked the tighter I went. Almost to the point of my fingers hurting from trying to get it so tight.

My MRC reactor leaked from the same area. My instructions told me to tighten them in a star pattern.Been working like a charm since!

Whever possible, for just such minor leaks, it's good to be able to put your calcium reactor directly in the sump.

Have you taken it apart to se if there is any debris around the o-ring? Only takes a tiny piece of something and you will never stop the leak. Also clean the o-ring and channel the o-ring sits in. Then put it back to gether using the star pattern to tighten the screws. Make sure the o-ring isn't twisted

Wish I had the room...This thing stands just over 24" tall.

Cleaned the O ring & the O ring channel. I also coated the O ring with Vaseline & I am watching it as we speak...so far no leaks! I am going to take the kids out for an ice cream in a few minutes. I will be keeping my fingers crosses while I am gone. :)

I have the same reactor and had the same problem. The Vaseline did the trick.

Must be a common problem with these reactors eh?

No leaks & ready to go. :) I hope to finish setting it up this weekend. I am just circulating the water through it for now. Keeping my fingers crossed as I am straight out with my work load.
