koralia evo 1050 problems

beckbrass

Make it fun.
I've had it along with the 1400 for a month on a wave maker. The 1050 goes backwards about 50% of the time and blew out the grate in the front of the power head the other day. I contacted koralia and have not heard back from them, itsbeen about a week. Any ideas if this is fixable or do they just stink?

Still have heard nothing from Koralia. Does any one use these or is it just me?

I haven't used any of the newer style powerheads, but the starting in reverse is a known issue with them. They should have a new bushing that fixes that issue I believe. Unfortunately getting in touch with them is a bit difficult. But once they respond I found them to be quite helpful. I had and older style powerhead of theirs that I thought was leaking too much current. I filled out their online form (http://www.hydor.com/main/contact) and it appears to go straight to their Italy office. About a week later I got a response from their USA office and they replaced my powerhead at no cost to me.

I'd try emailing them again. They'll probably respond in a few more days.

I have had the same problems with the new 750s. They start backwards half the time on my wavemeakers. They also stick alot and do not start at all due to the front grate catching somehow. I would not recommend them to be used with wavemakers. My problem is that I can't use a PH that has an external mag drive b/c my tank is inset in my walls. Do you or anyone know if tunze's can be used on wavemakers?

That is big $$$$$. IMO, there is still no cheap, reliable PH on the market that can be controlled by a cheap wavermaker. You get what you pay for I guess.

Head back from koralia and they said since the front cover broke, it has a magnet in it, this causes the reverse problem. They said they will send a new front cover to fix the problem. I hope this works ill post when the cover makes it. Thanks for the contact info number1gsxxr.

Are you saying the cover itself has a magnet in it?

looks like it on the front, it's a round circle I have not checked to see if it is magnetic but that's my guess.

I thought that it was a rubber stopper on the front cover. I will have to double check myself b/c I had removed the covers due to starting problems that I thought weere caused by the front cover.

Could be ill check
