Koralia vs Tunze

This might be a dumb question but what's the difference between the Tunzes and the Koralia circulation pumps? Is it just quality? I have a 30 gal cube that I want to get some more water movement in and not sure which to buy.

thanks

For me I just like the compactness if the Tunze pumps and feel that they are a bit more powerful than the Korallias. They seem a bit tougher to me as well especially now that the clips have been beefed up, for a few extra buck I would go w// the Tunzes and then the Korallias. Also you can mod the Tunzes for more flow, better dispersion or both.

I just replaced my 2 koralias in my 37G cube with Tunzes. I made the change when I broke yet another Koralia cleaning it and opened my spare parts drawer and discovered I had a drawer full of parts! I broke two of the shafts and one didn't start anymore and one I couldn't get it to go back together again after cleaning. Probably just my ineptness - but I am hoping to have better luck with the Tunzes.

I've replaced each of my 6 nanostreams at least once under warranty. Customer service has been excellent, and the second generation pumps are much better than the first. I'll keep buying them

I have stayed with my Seio pumps. They even come with magnet mounts now for under $40! I think the P530 is $38 at MD. I have one in my 30 cube along with the flow from the sump. That gives me 37x flow! I works flawlessly and is tough as a tank.

Can you use a wave maker like wavemaster with the Tunzes and the Koralia? Or are the wave machines just for maxi jet type pumps?

koralia have there own wavemakers. I think tunze do to, not sure though. Vortech by ecomarine are nasty little machines, you should check those out, bit pricey but well worth it

its only a 30g tank

IMO Tunze's are much better....I happen to hate the Korallias, a MJ1200 with a seaflow blows the K4 (or K1 which ever is the most powerfull) out of the water, so if you need to go smaller then get a mj900 and the matching seaflow kit, they push water the full length of my 4' 75, as where the K's put out a tiny bit wider flow pattern, but as you move your hand away from it you cant feel anything after about 4-6", and the seaflow you can still feel 3-4 feet away..I know its a 30 cube but the flow will bounce all around the tank and create random flow patterns...I have switched to Vortechs, but still have my seaflow's (on 1200's), trust me they are great, one of the best things I bought for my reef..

299 but you have more room for what you want in such a small tank because its less bulky. I dont have any experience with them though.

Yep. You keep the pump and change out the controller for the upgrade. I love my MP20 in my 30cube, but I would suggest an mp40 for larger tanks. The random waves and night mode are just amazing.
