Looking toward a new fish and want something deep bodied, not long. The tank is 120 gallons, SPS heavy, bare bottom. Currently have two clowns, two Cuban basslets, a Midas blenny, tailspot blenny, harptail blenny and the gratuitous blue demon.

The internet ninja in me found a couple angels that might fit the bill. I’ve also looked at some smaller bristle tooth tangs. I like the angels because you can have a pair or threesome if you’re into that kinda thing.

My current top four, in order, are:
Blackspot Swallowtail angel (captive bred available from Biota, female pic above)
Square Tail Bristletooth Tang
Watanabe angel
Tomini Tang

Does anyone have or had these fish and can you share your experience with them?

I have a bali orange tipped melanarus wrasse and a male and female pair of Japanese swallowtail angels. Shipping after the holidays fully quarantined.

@Kens Bees I highly doubt this would be your last fish purchase for 2026 as you put in the thread! I am guessing you mean last of 2025

I have a female swallowtail they are pigs!! Be prepared to feed more and nutrients to go on the rise. Beautiful fish though I tried a male with her but it was a bit too chasey for me. She seemed to stay higher towards the surface to avoid him maybe a trio would be better to spread the chasing between the two.

Bellus angels I think are even prettier! Another tang that might fit the bill is a blue eye Kole tang. Very peaceful, nice patterns on them, nice blue eye and great grazers!

have one of those already @Duds :) I feed like a drunkin sailor anyways so they will be happy. the male and female swallowtails have already been introduced by the vendor. So far so good.
