LED blown power supply

Ugh, I think I just blew my LED power supply. I was doing some work around my tank and some how I happened to drip one drop, I swear, I felt it drip off my arm into the power supply. This was then followed by some odd noises and the lights began to dim. I unplugged it ASAP but it looks blown. I'm assuming the white stuff is not supposed to be there. Any idea what the white stuff is? I didn't think it a good idea to plug it back in so I haven't.

Any local shops where I could pick up a new Meanwell S-150-24? I can order from my original source but it could be a few days.

The white stuff is a kind of liquid electrical tape i believe. It's on all of the power supplies similar to your's that i've seen, so it's not your problem. I'm not sure why you'd have to buy a new driver. Maybe its only the power supply that's blown or even the fuse?

The white stuff is potting compound. They use it to stabilize top heavy components like the big electrolytic capacitors or the toroidal inductor so their momentem doesn't break the circuit board if you drop the power supply. If you poke it with your finger or tweezers it could be rock hard like an epoxy or rubbery like a silicone adhesive.

It's hard to say if you damaged the power supply or not. I would disconnect everything from the supply and plug it in by itself. The little LED in the bottom right corner of your picture should illuminate if everything is ok. If it doesn't come on or it blinks on and off, there is likely something shorted out inside the supply. If the LED is on steady, use a multimeter to see if you are getting 24VDC at the output pins. If all looks well there, then try hooking up your LED strings one at a time.

Thanks for the input, maybe I've lucked out. I've unplugged everything and I'm going to plug it back in. If I blow up it your fault. :) I'll let you know if it works. But if I blow up I guess you'll never know.

I'm alive, and so are my LEDs. I tested the power supply and it looked good, plugged in the LEDs and we are back in business. THANKS
