Any LFS know if they're considered essentials and staying open? I've heard pet stores can stay open as people need to feed their dogs, cats and other pets and fish are pets IMO and need to be fed...

I would assume they fall under the same category as pet stores. They provide essential services to keep animals alive.

If you look at the (huge) list of exceptions that went out it could keep almost everyone at work.

My wife is a paralegal at a real estate law firm and they are claiming they are essential, so everyone has to go in the office. The banks basically threatened them and said they are going to continue to do closings, and if her office doesn't want the business they'll send it somewhere else. The lawyers are pissed because they have to come in contact with people to sign documents/etc. Apparently they are going to houses now, staying outside, and watching them sign through a window.

You could make the argument for anything being essential. And there's even a spot on the "govnah's" website to make a case for being essential. I believe this is just the next step to try and keep people home and from driving around this morning it seems to be working as most people will abide by it...

On that note which LFS plan on being open? Please post so we hobbiest/addicts can know!!!

Not in my town, they held a friggin parade for the teachers and staff, so the kids could wave to them.

My wife is a teacher and she rolled her eyes when I mentioned this (she had already heard about it) and technically if it was before noon today and outside it's all good!!!

Technically we are not a LFS, but we are a real business. Here are what we are doing right now:

Social distancing is the only way to keep our family and friends safe. Especially we have elderly living with us, so we close the coral room and only offer pickup outside of the house and shipping for: coral packs, dry good, service and repair.

LFS is essential business as it is important to keep your fish and coral alive. Please visit and support your LFS near you.

Thank you very much for your support.

I'm not an LFS anymore, but I am still working 100%. I'm considered essential to life support for the large Reef systems I maintain. Plus I have very little to no contact with humans on most of my jobs anyways. Several of my accounts the homeowners have gone to their vacation homes, until this mess is over, so I dont even go to where there are any people.
I have also been doing deliveries of Coral, supplies, and saltwater, and just doing them no contact. Same when people stop by to pick something up, no one comes in I just bring it out to the driveway.
So business almost as usual for me.
Nice thing is my days are quite a bit shorter now, since I'm not stuck in rediculous traffic.
And we have decided not to take on any new service accounts or jobs at this time, and only service accounts that are currently under contract.
Gotta put safety as our first priority in every step now.

The key of this “Lock down” is to better enforce social distancing, as long as we all take precautions and respect each others’ safety, we will go through this difficult time with minimum lost of human life, mostly elderly and people with existing illness.

Is the town have enough test kits to test the kids?

Glad to hear Dong!!!

Oh I'm sure you're loving that aspect! I have also heard a ton of people mention since the new hands free law went into effect traffic has gotten better as well. I will say it's dead on the roads in my town...

I am operating out of my home per usual, I wash my hands frequently anyways so nothing has changed.

Just talked with John from Sea Creatures in North Providence, he is keeping normal hours as of right now. He said he will post on Sea Creatures Facebook page if anything changes.

I know for sure LTR and EA are open and also offer curbside pickup. I think TI is also open last I read.
Good to know. I’ve only spoke to Marti and he’s been on and off as he does servicing for his customers if possible with precaution.

Ya I would def verify with them before you head there. I think they both may have also adjusted their hours during this.
