After reading a number of threads asking about stores in the local area, I thought I would make a little contribution to our online community.

I've put together a small application and database to provide information on stores in our area. Its pretty much bare bones right now, but hopefully you will find it useful and possibly contribute to the database.

Initially the application focused on Southern California, but my hope is that it will become a national database for everyone to reference. Boston, you're the next to use it!

A few features:
- Each of the points on the map is "clickable" and will reveal additional details like website, email, and telphone contact info.
- Configurable map center (based on a zip code)
- Configurable map size
- Driving directions
- Each map allows for panning in every direction (via click and drag) and zooming (see the controls in the upper right corner.
- ...more to come including store reviews and ratings

I just added a bunch of the sponsors that I know have stores. For some reason I got an error trying to add Fishy Business.

Un-real did you check out the Satellite view or your house.

yup. download google earth and you can zoom in even more. Looking at my house through google earth I can see my car and my roomates car in my driveway. So I know it was taken in the last 3 years.

Some limitations of this map in paticular are that it will only show stores located in the state of your zip. In the thread on RC's BRS forum the guy who wrote it said he was working on a fix for that.
