LFS opinion?

I'm planning and looking for my first tank (long process for me). Any recommendations for good stores local to Worcester/Leominster?

I found an address for Underwater Exotics in Worcester? They sounded helpful on the phone. Anyone have any +/- comments regarding them?

I also see Beacon Aquarium frequently on this forum.

Thanks!

...should add that I'm relatively new to MA.

I would check the equipment forum first and see what other BRS members are selling. I haven't been to either of those stores so I can't comment.

I also get a lot of dry good from all things fishy in Marlboro, but their live stock is increadibly over priced and their coral tank isn't healthy.

What size tank are you thinking of ? I have a great 50 gal. setup for sale

Yes I called around to a few different stores, and he did have the best price on the tank I was looking for. He's nice and very helpful. His store is awesome, I could spend hours in there. Definatly worth a visit. :)

I'm really trending toward the 70Gal Oceanic (36.5x18.5x25H). A four footer is just a tight for the space and I really like the looks of a tall tank.

Thanks for the S.C.A tip.

Give Beacon a shot too, they're very competative.

FWIW, your probably going to need more light for that tall tank than you would for a regular 75 gallon 48" tank.

Never heard of Underwater Exotics... I'm curious too.

If you need a peak. UE is at 120 Stafford St #H, Worcester 508-791-4987.
I haven't been there yet either.

I stopped by Beacon Aquariuim the other night to take a look around. Lourdes' dad was very helpful. I had my slightly unhappy 2-year old with me so I was a bit distracted. I was pleased that the fish looked well cared for, and I did get to see a 65g all glass AGA that gave me a feel for the size I'm after. I listened in as he spoke with other customers when I could, very helpful. First trip to a fish store in a long while, got me hankering.

When I eventually get going, I'll definitely be stopping by.

Cool. I'm going to be out in the boonies this weekend. :D I guess I'll have to stop by Beacon and give em a look see.

what jeff said,my pet world the guy is real nice and you can't beat his prices on tanks if your in the worcester area shop him last for the best deal.

Thanks, I've been to MPW a couple times and called a couple times, but the man with the prices hasn't been in yet. Guess I'll keep trying.

yes he is in and out but keep trying you will be glad you did

he also sells birds and can get you what ever you want just ask including salt/salt water fish/food /carbon/lights /sand you get the idea and did I say he's a great guy.
