Hi everybody a quick question for you.

For my 75 gallon that I am setting up now I will be running:
Two (2EA) 250 watt xm's
Four (4EA) 24" VHO's (actinic).

The place where I ordered the bulbs sent me a 10k and a 20k.

Would there be any negative effects if I ran these or should I send one back and get both the same "K" rating?

Would when the time came down the road (8-10 months) to change bulbs again and I went to (two 10k's or two 20k's) any problem then as for the livestock or corals since they would be use to a 10k and a 20k. Or would I have to keep the same set up as now with one of each.

Thanks again
Bruce

I would send it back, you will see a big difference when looking at the tank with the two different bulbs. Are you planning on running the vho's to supplement your 10k,s.I would start with the 10's and then if you wanted a little more blue try a 14 or 15 k bulb, this would also eliminate the need for vho's during the day.I use my vho's just in the dawn /dusk .Vho's don't last well unless you use an icecap and will need replacing every 6-8 months if used all day.
thats what i'd do anyway :)
-Liam.

Also I dont think the 20Ks last as long as the 10Ks so you would be replacing one befor the other.

OK that is the plan,
Ill send the one back and get another 10K
I am running an Icecap and the vhos are going to be used as follows, I am running 2 super daylight actinic and 2 super actinics, will run the vhos during the dawn and dusk (but to be honest If I like the look I may run the VHO's all day if I like the look and still use them after the MH are shut down for a dawn to dusk period and just eat the costs of bulb replacement.
