I finally finished building my stand and now i'm researching the lights for the tank the contents will be 50% softies 25% lps and 25% sps. So far what i've done some research on are 2 Kessil 160w, 1 Radion xr30 gen3, and 1 AI 52HD. I do want to stay with led's please let me know what you think of my choices and or any other fixture that I may have over looked. I'm in no rush to finish this tank so I would like to hear what everyone has to say, thanks.

Vinny,
If I had my way and could get any light it would be without a doubt the AI 52HD. I think it's a no brainer because the light can be programmed from any device, obviously all independent channels but now the difference, the HD version allows you to turn up the power on any channels to use the remaining power from other channels that are under 100%. Basically the light will gives you a better color pallet so you can really achieve the look you desire, rather than having channels max out even though you are not utilizing 100% power.

Thanks Steve I did forget one other fixture the Maxspect 420r. I don't know much about it other than the low profile. I'm not so sure that if I really would get into dialing the controller in all the time. All I want is a led light can grow what ever is decide to put in there. As for the light I want it to simulate dusk and Dawn I'm a very simple guy I won't be on my computer or cell playing with the lights, it's nice that these new lights can do what they do but I don't see myself using all the bells and whistles yet.

I have a 29 thats 30" long. I put a xr30 pro over it recently. The light is awsome but the corners were a little dark so I switched to the wide lenses and it all evened out nicely. My corals really got a boost from it. You do have to plug in a usb to your computer to program it unless you get a reeflink but you can also program your mp10's if you have them or plan on getting them. Just wanted to share my experiance. I know how hard it is to choose a light without seeing them over a tank in person. The vidoes on the internet dont get the spectrum right and just dont look right. Good luck on your build.
