Lighting opinions

Hi Gang,

Looking at upgrading lighting. Anyone have experience with Aquactinics Solar Flare or Constellation fixtures (http://www.aquactinics.com/)? Also, can I put those right over my tank? I have a glass top to my tank.

They are nice fixtures. The solar flare overdrives the bulbs with Icecap ballasts so it will put out more light, use more electricity and need bulb replacements more often. If you want the added light this is a good choice, if you want efficiency, then go with the constellation.

I have no idea if they are worthwhile based on price compared to other fixtures out now though.

Just make sure they have individual reflectors. I'm pretty sure off the top of my head those have individual reflectors. W/O them T5's aren't that good.

they are nice fixtures, have excellent individual reflectors, and are priced reasonably for what you get.

They can sit on the rim of the tank, but you're going to want to get rid of your glass top.
