anyone hear of these. thinking of buying one from a brs member. id like a few reviews first.

do they work good?

I used a Bullet 1 on a 75 and then on a 125. They are awsome skimmers if you have the right pump. You need a very strong PRESSURE rated pump. I used a Panworld PS150 to run mine. I would get about 1/2 gallon of dark skimate a week on the 125. It didn't run anywhere near as good with the Mag9 that came with it when I bought it used. The down side is the energy consumption used by an adequite pump. Also need to clean the becket out often.

I have a bullet2 on my system (about 300gal total) powered by a Mag12 and it works great. The quality of construction is one of the best IMO. I used to be in the anti-overskimming crowd and relied on an algae turf scrubber for years. But I finally gave in and replaced the ATS with the Bullet. I'm glad I did.

I've been running a bullet 2 for 4-5 yrs, great skimmer.

I agree with what mike said about the need for a strong pump. (David, I'm surprised that your happy with the mag 12, but that's great). I'm running mine on a panworld PS100 and it works well, but IMO it would work better with the 150 like mike has.

Overall great skimmers, not as energy efficient as a needlewheel, but still great.

so a pm bullet 1 .. would a mag 9.5-12 work on that?

in your opinions. would you say they are better than the G series skimmers. i like the g series, and if these are better... ill get the bullet

PM bullett

I have the XL2 love it takes a while to get dialed in but then it works great

Personally I would't use any mag pump on a beckett skimmer, (but it can be done, just ask David). An external "pressure" pump will always work better on a beckett because of the inherent back pressure from the injector.

It's hard to compare a beckett to a needlewheel. Both are very good designs, but totally different. Both will do a very good job of skimming your tank.

Becketts can take a little more fiddling to tune/keep in tune. Also the beckett injector needs to be cleaned now and then, but that just takes a few minutes.

Needlewheel's are a little more plug and play, and probably need a bit less cleaning time.

Needlewheels usually need to be in sump, the bullet's can be anywhere.

I'd say if you can get a good deal on the bullet, grab it. If I was buying new maybe the G

Had a mag 12 on my bullet 1. Never could get it quite right. Once I changed to a genX4 pump ......HUGE HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!! Very happy with the bullet 1 on my 120!

Oops, my bad. I just looked up my original order receipt (over 2 years ago) and I got the Mag 18 not a 12. It works great IMO. I have both the pump and skimmer in my sump.

The G series are consindered overpriced junk now....Gone down hill quite a bit. The hot needle wheel skimmer is the Octopus with a few mods...
