I now have the flu so not sure if I’ll be good to go for Saturday. I just started taking meds this evening if I’m feeling better I’ll be there but I can’t guarantee it right now it’s been a rough 24 hours.@Duds @FishieBusiness been checking the weather for Saturday, looks pretty good in the morning, around 40 F in the morning. Just want to confirm if both of you will still be available to help in Coventry, RI? If u dont mind sharing your cell, i’ll send the address.
I’m still a bit short handed on the Bedford side, but I think I can make it work. Thx
@Duds so sorry to hear that, hoping you’ll get better quick.I now have the flu so not sure if I’ll be good to go for Saturday. I just started taking meds this evening if I’m feeling better I’ll be there but I can’t guarantee it right now it’s been a rough 24 hours.
i just saw the 10am. I can probably stop by for an hour or so. send me the info.what time on Saturday morning in coventry?
Awesome glad all worked out well. I had the exact same situation set up a 150G stock tank in the basement. its a PITA as I have to dose 30 ML of ALK supplement a day and top off in the morning and evening about a total of 1.5 gallons a day since there is no automation. Brings you back to the beginning of reefing testing every other day with no Ca reactor LOL! Looking forward to seeing your build thread.@SteveDola sorry for the delay, been a bit crazy at home. The tank, stand and sump are safely in the house now. Thx to you all @robbie c @FishieBusiness @SteveDola for the tremendous help, otherwise the move wont happen. Can agree more to see that the community is awesome with people willingly to help a newbie like me.
A bit of a story, IMO the morning at Coventry went super well, we have 4 people and the you all are much more experience than I am and it showed, you guys took charge and troubleshoot on the best way to move, load and secure the tank safely. Super awesome to see, i learned a lot.
The afternoon in Bedford is a bit hairy actually. There were only 3 of us, @robbie c myself and one of my neighbor. Rob and I knew how heavy it will be, but i think my neeighbor under estimated that a bit. We had a scare where as we were unloading the tank from the van once we got off, one of the suction cup just released by itself causing the corner to drop suddenly and drop to the ground. Luckily it was dirt, not concrete. @robbie c was the hero, if he didnt hold the tank on his side, i’m sure it would have completely dropped to the floor. It was SCARY to be honest, then we had to get it through the sunroom door which is a bit tight and can only fit 2 folks, it was a struggle due to the weight. Once we got it in the sunroom, everyone was exhausted, but @robbie c experiences help us with different techniques of using a dolly on one end to help and then once we got it in the house using the moving blanket to slide the tank to the final position. I wont lie, it was tough and i was really worried with the unload. So i really cant thank Rob enough for his willingness to drive with me from Lowell to RI and back to Bedford and doing all the hard work as well. I owe you one.
So where I am now? I’ll be taking the build slowly. Will probably start a build thread as well. After talking to my neighbor who is a structural engineer, he suggested that the current tank location is the best location, but he suggested that add more bracing in the basement for safety given the total weight will likely be roughly 1,800 to 2,000 lbs.
This would complicate the transfer process as instead of being able to setup the new tank first, I now need to breakdown the existing tank into a bucket, move them out of the way, the setup the new stand and tank in the current location (which again will require help from folks, but at least it’ll short distance), test fill it and then transfer the animals to the new tank. It’s an ordeal.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, I’m glad the big move is over though. Below are a couple pictures of the tanks.
