Hi fellow reefer, I’m going to do a tank transfer in a couple of weeks up upgrading from 65 gallon to 150. I just finished building a mixing station in the basement, but would rather not lugging 5 gallon bucket up and down to the 1st floor.
Does anyone happen to have a long python hose or something similar but reef safe that i can borrow for a couple of days?
I was thinking of using the garden hose but after reading more, i dont think it’s reef safe.
Thanks all.

Bummer. But it's a great idea I just started at 240 and have a 1 in line plumbed in from my water station in the basement to the tank. Made filling the tank so much nicer. I'm hoping to be able to use that same line in reverse for water changes well shed a couple of valves and I'll go into the basement sink. No more humping water around

pipe your mixing station with pvc and a shut off valve to the top of the stairs put a quick connect on the pipe and the hose. make your hose long enough to reach your tank and Bam no more carrying buckets. that’s how I fill my tank for WC.

Spending the time and effort to simplify maintenance will greatly increase your success and enjoyment. Laying out hoses isn't fun, makes a mess, and if inconvenient, you won't do it as often as you should. I second Corey's advice and gave up buckets and hoses.

@Cpage101 thank you so much, great set up. A couple of question if u dont mind:
- do you have AWC? Or you use the setup above to do water change?
- is picture #3 on top of the stair? And you then run a hose from there to the tank?
- is picture #1 showing the pvc from the pump going to the pipe along the stairs?
Thx again for your help

Agree, definitely want to not lug buckets anymore, but likely still need to deal with hoses. At least i have AWC using neptunr DOS today which has been really good for me

- is picture #3 on top of the stair? And you then run a hose from there to the tank? YES

- is picture #1 showing the pvc from the pump going to the pipe along the stairs? YES GOES THROUGH THE WALL WITH BACK TO BACK 90’s AND RUNS UP TO THE TOP OF THE STAIRS

Thx again for your help NO PROBLEM

Great set up, what is the other pipe with the funnel for?
The tank is going to have one by six pine frame around it. That pipe is going to be hidden by that. it's a feeding tube so that I can get food down to the bottom corner of that tank to feed a mandarin, or so I hope. We'll see how it works

They do make potable hoses. Think campers.

Anyway, for the 30 seconds water going thru a hose, why do you think it's not "reef safe"?
It won't be in the hose long enough to pick anything up.
Just my .02¢
