Anyone ever made one who can help me? Or if anyone has a canopy for sale that would be great too. TIA

You can check out our store bought hood when you pick up the light meter. I should be done with it this weekend. Want to put some new bulbs in and test again.

Peter,
I think if you trace the curve of the tank on a piece of cardboard then use that to build from it will cut down on the math. I have a 72 bow as well I have put a lot of though into how to do this too. The less difficult way is to use 1/4" ply wood doubled up to get the curve.I am not sure how well this will hold up to the salt water though.A lot of coats of shellac to protect it. or you could build in just like a AGA stand with a lot of vertical straight boards on one top and bottom curved piece of wood for a frame I think this would be a pain and not look the best.I still have not decided how I am going to do it but that is what I have come up with so far.Hope it is some help to you.

Hi Rob,
Let me know what you decided to do. I would love to see some progress pictures too.

Hello,
Funny you should ask,. I just finished building a hood for my 72 bow last week.
I would be happy to answer any question you have. I will try to post a pic soon if you need me to. Basically I used a 1/2 inch piece of ply for the top of the hood, I cut it to the width I needed and then sat it on the tank and traced the curve. Once you have the curve cut you can trace it onto a 1 x 8 to get 2 - 1in by 3/4 in boards that match the curve. Use straight boards of what ever height you want for the back and sides. I cut a rabbit into the top of my side and back boards so that when assembled you cant see the edge of the plywood for the top. If you put the back and sides on first you can attach the 1 in radius boards and use them to aply the front boards 1 layer at a time. Use plenty of glue. The front is 2 layers of 1/4 sanded birch ply with glue in the middle. Add molding for detail paint and voila.

Hi Jennifer, could you please post some pictures? Thank you.

Thanks Tone, but I don't really know how to PM that person. I'm not a member of reefcentral. I would rather buy from someone local.

I can post some pics this evening. If you need to I dont live that far away you can come look at it. It takes 30min on 114 to get from lowell to here. I will be home all weekend plumbing my 72 bow and a frag tank into my reef.
