Loud overflow

Ever since I set my tank up..... Every once and a while my overflow starts to make a flushing sound..... If I turn the pump off let it fully drain and then restart it ..... It stops but today it hasn't ...... So I drilled another airline hole on the top and that didn't completely do it.... It did stop the water level from raising and sinking ... What else could help it

Justin if it's flushing then it's partial syphoning was the air hole getting salt creep? Maybe the 2 nd hole fixed that but now there is too much air? Try taking airline tubing and inserting it into the new hole and pushing one end about 1/2 way down the drain. This allows the pipe to suck in air lower and often quiets a noisy durso

Im not sure if this applies to you, but i have a glass holes overflow and i used enkamat, 80% reduction in noise. It breaks the water up so its less noisy. HTH
