magfloat question

i have a magfloat that i used for my old 55g tank. now all i have is a 4g pico tank and i was wondering if i could use the magfloat that i used on the 55g to scrape it. i just wasn't sure if the magfloat would be too much for the small tank since they have different ones for different sized tanks. thanks in advance for any help. i don't want to crack the 4g so i wanted to ask here before i tried it.

I think you will have some problems. I have the smallest glass magfloat in my 5.5 and its too big IMO. I would look into that round one they make that has a super low profile in the tank.

i just wasn't sure if it would actually crack the glass on the 4g. i was just going to run it through quick and get rid of the algae on the side walls and clean it off and put it back in its holding place. i was nervous the glass would crack if the magfloat was too big. i always though thats why they had the different sizes.

also i thought i'd ask this here instead of opening a new thread for it. when you all buy filter floss for the tanks at say walmart or somewhere like that. what brand of stuff are you getting? i saw stuff called poly-fill and it looked good but was not sure if it was the right stuff. it said it met all flammable requirements for the state of california on it. i don't know if that helps at all but thanks to anyone that can offer some advice.

The brand I use is called Morning Glory - Premium Polyester Fiberfil. Im pretty sure you want the kinds that dont have any anti fire kinda stuff on it as that can be released into your tank. Alot of people recommended this stuff on another forum I post on.

thanks for the response. i thought it had to have none of the flame stuff on it thats why i wanted to make sure.

yeah, i would just buy a smaller mag float. A 4g sounds like a rimless? at least not a typical AGA, and i wouldnt risk cracking the tank. The biggest problem you would have it likely when you move the mag float from one panel of glass to another.
