i recently purchased a plate coral in woburn and my two maroon clowns appeared to be hosting it fine and loving it. a week later they were burying it with sand. the plate coral died . i also had moved a candy cane to another spot close to the clowns and they must of knocked it off the rock twice. has anyone ever had problems with clowns. i did have a large tomato clown who was very teritorial.

I have a maroon clown....... She owns my 20 gallon frag tank lol

I have a pair and they are model citizens until something gets near their nem

My female tomato bites anything near her nem. She flips corals and kicks sand up everywhere. T

Kicking sand up is normal for most clowns. It's a "nesting" behaviour. I have had to dig out my fair share of corals burried by them. All clowns are territorial, but from what I have read marrons are the worse.

Is it true that the more darker the maroon coloring, the more aggressive?

My female is darker than the male and is she ever a GIANT "not nice word".................Need 3 hands in the tank when cleaning,1 to swat her away and 2 for cleaning :)

I've had my maroon clown for prob 5 years now. It never once nipped at me, and I never noticed it being too aggressive with other fish. However...

I've always had problems keeping any other fish in my tank alive more than 6 months so I have a funny feeling the clown is aggressive when I'm not looking! My tank is very strange, I've had the clown living with bangaii's for like a year or two and then they started getting killed somehow one after another, same with Chromis and firefish. Nothing else seems to last too long. He has been living ok with my clown goby for prob 8-10 months now but it could be because the goby can swim away into small spots the clown cannot get too. So although I don't witness the clown fish being aggressive I would say it's def highly likely, so be cautious!

both my male and female bite me constantly when i am working in the tank. It feels like a pinch and gets really annoying. I am going to move them to my 45 cube when it is set up in hopes that they lay eggs
