for all the electrical experts!

is there a difference between a 400 watts vs 250 watts socket? i have a 250 watts ballast set right now. i'm planing to get a new 400 watts ballast to run this same socket. would this work? thanks!

If SE than yes the mogul sockets are the same. I am not sure on DE as I have never used them.

Exactly right, moguls sockets the same, but I believe that 150, 250, and 400 W DE are all slightly different.

70w and 150w share the same sockets
250w and 400w share the same sockets.
But 400w bulb is longer and you need to be able to adjust the distance between the sockets.
