Steve, there are certain specific rules about posting commercial posts in Reef Talk.

Post 17 is commercial in nature, and shouldnt be here.

I thought they were allowed if they were a sponsor.

The sponsor agreement gives the sponsors a banner, a table at meetings, and a forum. It also gives them exlusive right at discussing discounted group buys. It does not give them the right to make commercial posts in the non commercial forums. (do you really want the sponsors posting their current stock lists in reef talk?)

Were he making comments about a Tunze, or MJ, or something a long that lines, it wouldnt be such an issue, but where Reefdom has exclusive rights to this specific product, his reccomending it is a conflict of interest.

(Pat's mod is great, I just think the first course of action here should be to get ahold of the guy he got his from and figure out why it isnt working right. I've seen nothing but positives about lutz's mod. Theres no sense in him spending more money if he doesnt have to.)

Sounds fair. I just saw that after the last time we talked about this and I thought you had some personal issue.

No personal issue (that I'm aware of). It's just a necessary line we have to maintain to keep promotion out of the reef talk threads. Clearly scott was just trying to be helpful, and no slight is intended towards him, I'm sure. But we do try to keep vendor promotions out of Reef Talk.

I don't mind. I hate when I miss the good group buys because I didn't visit their fourm in a while. but I understand the reasoning behind the rule. it could get out of hand if everyone kept bumping up a million stock lists.

Nasty post removed.

If folks want to discuss this rule in a civil manner, please do so in another thread, in a different forum. (Web Committee would work).

Thanks,
Nate

Please send my removed post to Scavo, i have called him and emailed him the entire afternoon about this CRAP. i want something done about this.

It's posted in the Mod forum, ScavDog will see it.

back to the topic,
the lutz mod has had some issues with the prop breaking at the magnet connection and has a few different types he's shipped out. some have expressed concerned about the lack of reverse mechanism, but since he was kicked off RC getting info from the source is a little tough. before he left, he had claimed he had a version that solved this issues. not sure what version you have, but i will say The lutz mod ceartinly looks sweet. he did a great job with the CNC work. he has trimmed it down significantly since the photo he posted to get it to spin.

this might help for some more info from RC
I finally got my Lutz mod kits to work right with my older mj pumps.
I just had to silicone the prop on the shaft. For some reason the magnet would vibrate inside the shaft. I could not figure where the noise was coming from until the second shaft came apart. Then I realized the noise was the magnet slot hitting the shaft and bouncing back over and over until the shaft exploded in to about three pieces. silicone the prop on the shaft. So theirs the mod for the maxi mod kit (i also sanded down the shaft just to make sure the shaft was not hitting becacause the shaft was a bigger dia than the magnet)
