Moving tank long distance?

Armando

v 4.0
Just curious.. Anyone heard of a successfull tank move long distance, let's say to another state or part of the country? How could it be done?

I moved my 25g.. only about 20 mins away.. I'd hate to do it with anything much bigger. I did lose one of my Ocellaris in the process too. Packup everything up in homer buckets and drove fast with the heat on.

I moved my 75 from Boston to Brooklyn with no losses.

I moved from south dakota to here once.. with corals, the big red devil I used to have, and my turtle. :P

how did you move the corals?

They were in totes with airpumps running small carbon filters.. I did a couple water changes with hotel water on the way.

I can't see myself doing all this. There might be a huge livestock sale here next year ;)

hopefully this will be my last frigid winter :)

I haven't decided :)

I hear that.. move somewhere when you can walk out and see a reef, instread of trying to recreate one in your living room.

that would be Key West :D

In Key West you won't even need to walk out of your house. Most years the reefs will come visit you right in your living room! Imagine the convenience!

That's too funny. ROTFLMAO!!!!

if I was to move long distance I would consider selling off everything also.

Walk out onto the reef..

I did it this summer. twice. Airpumps are your best friend. everything in buckets with air pumps. Fish in a seperate bucket from rock and coral. replace the sand bed if you have one. my trip was 4+ hours they were in the buckets for over 7 hours.
