MP40 question

dcforester1

Finally enjoying my tank
What setting do you have your MP40 on, and what size tank?

TIA Derek

Lagoon a slight turn up from the lowest setting
34g solana

I just cant seem to get it right. First to much, and then not enough. I had it on the pink, but it seemed to strong. Then I put it on yellow, but it doesnt really flow that strong. The original wet side was loud so I could tell how high it was. Now with the new wet side I cant even hear it. I think I need another one. I just need a 20, but you cannot sync them together. I will keep just keep trying I guess.
Thanks

reef crest, about 1/2 way up, on both the 92 and 72.

nearly full blast reef crest here (yellow).

It's not high energy because it flows so strong, it's high energy because it's highly variable and it goes from very high to very low flow, which is exactly what many corals experience in the wild.

I've got a 170 with two of them on opposite sides on opposite settings using reef crest. About 70% power. Sometimes I wonder if it is a little too strong when it lays the softies right over. but they seem to like it.

I had it on Reef Crest, because I was sick of playing with it. I waited and waited, and it seemed to never go on high.

you gotta remember that it's broad, and it ramps up and ramps down quite frequently. You don't want full blast high flow all the time, or even most of the time.

I judge how good the flow is by the motion of the polyps on my SPS, if they flow gently back and forth, every now and then getting a big rush of water, and every now and then very little movement, then i know they are getting great, variable flow.

In ideal conditions, a coral will get blasted with flow, then have very little, then get blasted again, etc.
