MRC/CR1 Skimmer...

Well the Recirculating one for a tank your size would put you in the 400's. They are suppose to be a lot better but I have a regular NW-150 and it works great on a nicely stocked 110 total. They are around $260

Octo's are not big money.

No... I was referring to the bubblemasters... ouch on the $$. I can definately afford an Octopus... :D

If you do go for a different skimmer;
There are so many choices / prices on needlewheels. Take your time researching the options.

Your LR/LS won't suffer much if they have to wait a week or two for a skimmer.

Yes they are big bucks. No need for a tank your size imo.

That's nice to know that they can wait a week. That was the only fitration that I had though... besides a filter sock and carbon..

Just look at it this way your tank doesn't care how much you spend on a skimmer as long as it gets the job done your good. You already have the MRC
it is a decent skimmer I would work with what you have. But like I stated before the mag 12 is not enough.
Now others may run these on the same skimmer but mags aren't known for being high quality consistent pumps cheap though. You could put a new impellar in the mag you have and it might work better, but why use a pump that is the bare minimum for your skimmer.

Also the pcx 30 and 40 use less electicity than the mag 12 and are much more powerful.
