Muriatic Acid

Has anyone here ever used Muriatic Acid to remove thick coralline algae in there tank? I have an old tank that I'm looking to clean out and read that Muriatic Acid could remove the thick deposits of coralline algae. Anyone have any experience with this?

I'd be more concerned with it eating away at the interior silicone seals if you don't move fast enough or have the mix too concentrated. That's some serious stuff...

Is it even safe for glass. Isnt it able to etch it?

nope not strong enough to etch glass. You need hydrofluoric acid to do that, muriatic acid is just another name for hydrochloric acid. works fine for cleaning tanks. It is a bit dangerous to you though. Vinegar probably works for removing coralline, just takes longer.

Vinegar does work well, use it 10 to 1 ratio with a strong power head and within 2 days... max it will be gone.

I use muratic acid on rocks with a 10% rodi solution for about an hour soak. I use Only vinegar and tap water for tanks
