Finally enjoying my tank
WOW, I couldnt stop and think about this thread this morning. We got a puppy for christmas, (I know thats another thread for another time. For those who know us, we have a zoo here) Well the dog has been fine, but this morning was barking at 4:45, this hasnt happened, so I was alittle surprised. I got up, and took him out and back to the crate. Well he kept barking so I decided to get up. While I was making my coffee, something was buzzing it was my cellphone. WOW my Apex is calling what could that be? Knowing I was just playing with my skimmer last night, I was sure it was just my skimmer overflow, no big deal, once it reaches a level it shuts the skimmer down. Well I checked my phone and it wasn't my skimmer, it was my reactor, and a water bug that sits under it. When I checked there was just a small amount of water under it, and I am sure it was just from some tank maintenance. When I had my head under there another alarm went off, and it set the alarm off on the base unit. Now if the base unit goes off, its something major, so I was now wondering if my Apex was having an issue, as I just updated the software. This time is was high water in the DT!!!!!!!!! I jumped up and my water was about 1/2in from going over the top! Everything worked flawlessly, it shut down my top off, turned of my return pump, and then notified my by email, and then set off the alarm.
If you have a controller, use it. If you dont, get one. They can be picked up for short money, and are not hard to set up. This all started at 4;45, and the dog doesn't have ESP, just a puppy that had to go to the bathroom. This isn't directed at Jays incident, but I wanted to post here as it made me think how close I just came to his situation.
As you can see there is a tiger tail that usually is in my sand. But sometimes goes up on the glass. Maybe this can stop someone else from disaster.
