I tore half of the tank apart, and sive through the sand bed and found nothing. a small peice of rubble that the acan came with is stuck on his belly. D@#%!!
I too doubt that he ate it. They do like to attach things to themselves for protection and sometimes drop them other places. I have one and haven't had any problems with him, however I use aquamend epoxy fairly liberally That is the best way to go. If you attach everything done really solid, you'll avoid losing lots of corals. I've learned that the hard way with several polyps and things that just blew away when I turned on the pumps. DOH!
I have owned two of them for 4 years and mine crawl over corals and sometimes take polyps with them but have never eaten a coral moved things around yes but not eaten thats a first.

I highly doubt the urchnin at them. When stressed (knocked around by a bull-in-a-china-shop urchin lets say), Acanthatrea lordowensis polyps can detach from their skeletons and fly loose. They're tough to save/deal with when that happens... but its far more likely than the urchin eating them.
