My geothermal cooling loop seems to work

Greg,

I seem to remember there being a pond behind your house when I came to help you move the tank. Do you have access to that water body?

It probably gets too warm in summer when you need it the most, and might freeze solid in winter when you need it the least, but... could you submerge the aluminum exchangers in the pond?

That's the problem. It would not do any good, much to shallow. I'm pretty sure I'd get into trouble if I submerged anything into it.

Have scuba gear, up for night Ops :D

Mark,

Interesting idea, but that's not a lot of surface area that guys using. I actually think that for the moment, the heat exchange in my sump is not really a limiting factor.

FWIW, my 82 gallon aluminum gas tank came in last night. VERY nice. It think it will work out extremely well. When I was originally thinking about how I might design a large surface area aluminum box for this purpose I was thinking it should have baffles. Sure enough, this gas tank has baffles. I don't even think I'm going to need to do any welding. All I really need to do is get digging. Though I cannot say for certain yet, I think this will provide all the cooling I need on its own.

Dave, thanks for the offer, but I think it'll be tough to dive in 8" of water!!

Wow, didn't realize it was THAT shallow!

That must be a breeding ground for skeeters

I think the most practical course of action is to have the pond dredged down to 20 ft or so.

Yes, to be a true pond it has to be deeper then that
Get the ACE crew out there, they should be done in LA

Well I guess I need to finalize what I'm going to do before I backfill
