My Glass-Hole.com overflow is a piece of garbage!

I can agree with how small the footprint is. That's nice about it. I'll have to cut the enkamat stuff tomorrow night when I visit the tank again.
Where did you learn about having two pieces, one in each side of the baffle? I didn't see that in the instructions.

I figured it out myself. When I laid the enkamat in and it did nothing, my brain said to me, "well, they must not have put it in there for no reason."

So when I thought about it, the gurgling couldn't be caused by the piece that covers the middle, it has to be on the sides. So I cut the stuff in half and jammed it in the sides and the noise stopped immediately.

Their directions should clearly state this. It would save them a lot of phone calls and bad press on the internet.

that's interesting--I ordered my overflow about a year ago and it didn't come with enkamat and it is silent. 700gph with a tunze silence 800gph return pump
I'm glad you figured it out though!

Wow that's a lot of flow going thru there for you huh?

the tank was on an extra tall-stand and the tank was "tall", so the pump had to pump about 5.5ft in the air-- i'm guessing that reduces the gph by at least 20-35%

Mine also was an older one and did not have enkamat. I actually had no clue what you were referring to untill I just looked it up. As mentioned in an earlier post mine is/was very quiet with around 600gph flow through it.

It's seeming like the old design was quieter than the new design. I notice the old design had teeth on all three walls where as the new design has it on the front only. Wonder if that made it louder or quieter? I saw someone online also cut the inside of the overflow at the teeth rounded inward so instead of the water shooting into the overflow, it would kinda cascade over the smooth rounded edge. I'll see if i can find the pic later. Wonder if it really helped. I'm kinda iffy about taking a Dremel to a $80 overflow though.

I have the new one and it is very quiet. I love it, low profile in the tank.

Enkamat is the wirey black plastic mesh-like sheet they send. I cut it in half as suggested and put it on each side of the baffle, and i'm almost positive it made no audible difference, lol. Didn't get louder... But it didn't get quieter either. Lol.

Amazing. It literally is the only thing keeping mine from being loud and silent. Every other adjustment I've made did nothing. They are finicky...

Yeah I moved mine back onto the baffle too.

I know it is a few weeks old, but did you ever figure out how to quiet it down?

Turned the flow down to 200gph going out the return nozzle. Less flow in the sump means more time for the skimmer to skim, and more time for the heater to heat. It also makes less heat, less noise, and uses less electricity. And the smaller pump also costs less. It's a quadruple win.
