Probably my favorite fish in my tank....

this poor guy is getting his tale bit....I have seen this happen a few times now...I lost a bluespot to this in the past...

Someone in the tank keeps getting him and I want to make sure I get punk thats doing it....
My thougth is that its an emerald crab sneaking up on him and clipping him....His tale is tetherd and a little bloody... :(

I also have some other crabs that come out at night... I am not sure what kind they are...they came on my rock...they are little stocky wide looking crabs and only come out when the lights are off...they eyes are kind of reddish...

Has anyone ever had an issue like this...??? any advise on treating my bluespot or dealing with the punk that did it would be much appreciated....

Those red-eye crabs are generally bad, I would try to catch them. I'm not sure if they're the culprits though.

Set up a bottle trap before lights out and see what you've got in the morning.

For all you know it could be something you didn't even know was in the tank.

I saw my other Jawfish get clipped my an emerald crab...he when crazy...I thought it was just a fluke but now I see the same injury on this new jawfish...
He went nuts jumping all over the place....It was during the day and right before my eyes... I need to veryfy for sure....just cant make anyone pay for this....there must be justice...even in my reef....

it prob is a crab as a fish couldnt sneek up on him in his burrow, set up a trap the inverted coke bottle would work just cut the hole bigger

Coke bottle trap. Pretty simple although you might be need to use a bigger bottle depending on the size crab you saw.

I lost a Bluespot in Jan. Very sad. I woke up with my Emerald chowing down on him. I still am not convinced the Emerald instigated it all though, but they will start picking on a sick/wounded fish. I had two what I believe to be Gorilla crabs that came in on my rock. Fuzzy with black tipped pincers. Basically, if the night crabs have black tips, you _need_ them gone. Carnivores. I waited until I knew the hole in a rock they sheltered in and then turkey basted fresh water until he jumped. I actually have one in the drain of my sump.

Until he heals, he is going to be susceptible to more and more including other fish. Any way to QT him or whatever crabs you can snag.
