my poor naso tang

i had a feeling it wasn't normal for a fish (especially a big one) to get stuck on a powerhead. he doesn't look sick to me. and he wasn't sleeping. i guess it's time to check my water parameters. i know its been close to a month i have not fed nori and/or seaweed. could that be causing him to be weak and sick? the reason i have not been feeding nori or seaweed is because feeding clip is stuck in back of my live rock. so it is impossible to get it

Right there you say you have not feed nori and/or seaweed for close to a month.

This fish needs to graze all day along with the blue tang that you have, without the ability to do this these fish will whither away.

i always feed my fish a variety of frozen food with additives. so thats nothing new im doing. i just decided to blend everything together today instead of putting the cubes and the additives in a cup. btw the naso tang is doing much better. he is swimming normal and eating like a pig. like nothing ever happened

i said close to a month but now that i think back its only been about 4 days. and like i stated before the naso tang doesn't even like nori or seaweed. so me not feeding him that is not cruel since he doesn't even like it. obviously he doesn't need seaweed or nori to survive since he is doing well without it. but i will still continue to try and get him to eat it. since i know it's good for him. point is me not feeding the fish nori or seaweed for a little while is not cruelty especiallly if the fish didn't eat it in the first place. now me not feeding the fish at all is a whole different story. now that will be cruelty. and the same goes for a human if somebody doesn't want to eat a ceratin kind of food how are you being cruel. as long as you try what else can you do but keep trying. and just because you stopped feeding that ceratin type of food for 4 days does not make you cruel

A lot in your replies you say that you mentioned something before but it is not anywhere in this thread.

Did you quarantine the fish before going into the tank, if so what was it eating in there? What was it eating at the store/vendor?

Besides nori/seaweed you can try other veggies such as romaine lettuce, broccoli, bok choy, and dulse to name a few. These would need to be softened which you could do by soaking in warm water.

the tang it's fine. i never said it was not eating anything at all. by you saying did he eat when he was quarintine and by saying if he ate at the store. it's making it seem like if the naso is not eating. he eats everything except nori and seaweed

We usually do not moderate thread we are involved in, but this was was way over the top and needed to be dealt with immediately.

While it is OK to tell someone what they are doing is not the best or proper way, it is not OK to demean, degrade, insult or make personal attacks towards anyone for any reason. Let alone make comments about how they care for their families outside of the reefkeeping discussion.

The thread has been as mildly moderated short of just removing the whole thing. Anyone continuing on the previous track will be taking a vacation.

Comments that were in response to the offending comments were removed as well.
