My reef is dying

Armando.....this is awful!!! Keep doing water changes. Try running carbon and polyfilter to pull out toxins and hope for the best. I wish you the best.

WOW real sorry to hear this Armando. This is not what I wanted to see tonight. I hope thing work out for the tank. I wish there was something I could do for you. Hang in there, I'm hopping for the best for you.

You hang in there Armando...

...we're going to get you through this. If you have a second, post back with exactly what you need.

Personally, I have 75gal of fresh RO/DI water that I can bring down in the morning, or maybe even more beneficially, my RO/DI unit.

I'll check first thing in the morning for your reply here. Let us know what you need, and we'll get you through this,

Matt:cool:

Armando, Sorry to hear about your tank. Let me know if i can help you with anything. This is a rough time but please hang in there.

Armando , OMG I am so sorry to hear this, just got online since yesterday afternoon, not sure if i can help at all I have a ton of sh** going on in the home front right now , but have a brand new box of IO in the car I thnk it is enough to make 200 gallons I could possibly meet someone half way early afternoon if needed ..Giveme a call if I can help ... 401-230-5970

i appreciate the offers to help. this morning i did the 4th water change. i'll try to go home lunch time and do one more. as soon as the 20G rodi fills up i mix salt for 15mins and change. i usually let it mix for 24 hours but i guess for now that's what i can do.

i noticed the cleaner shrimp and the emerald crabs lived so i'm not sure if it was copper, otherwise i think they would be gone too. couple of LPSs are struggling back, the zoos look awful never seem zoos look so bad even after a bad shipment. trying not to think too much about the lost blue echinata.

I have a bunch of IO if that'll help. Do you have a DI unit that hooks up to your sink? I'm not sure if this would be as good as RODI but you can make it alot faster, about 1 gallon in 6 minutes. LMK, I'm not that far from you, I'll be around tonight....

Armando - I am SO sorry to hear about this - I live very near the coastline in Southern Maine (about an hour and 15 from Boston). I can get you a bunch of buckets of natural sea water and meet you somewhere close to half way if you want - let me know. I have a big truck, so I can bring as much as you need.

Let me know.

Laurie

Armando, sorry to hear about you tank. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I am impressed with all the offers of support posted here. You have a lot of friends in BRS. It's great to see BRS members rally around a fellow reefer in crisis. Good luck.

Armando, I'm so sorry to hear this. Reading this sends shivers down my spine...

Let me know if I can help. I'll frag a piece of blue echinata from my tank, or anything else to help in any way that I can.

Sorry to hear about this Armando, but I'm glad everyone is willing to pitch in even the ones that live so far away.

>i noticed the cleaner shrimp and the emerald crabs lived so i'm not sure if it was copper, otherwise i think they would be gone too<

I would think so too. Might have just been some funky toxin from whatever electrical stuff it was that melted down. Did the snails die? Strange. As usual I'd like to at least TRY and figure out what happened in your tank to decrease the likelyhood of it happening to you, someone else in the club or....ME!!

Another reason folks to make sure your friends have some back up frags of your most treasured corals.

Armando, I can only begin to imagine what you're going through right now... I'm heading to Boston in a couple of hours, let me know if you need anything (I have plenty of IO salt, for instance).

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Nuno

Armando, I've got 40g of RO made up. I could send it down with Nuno if that would be helpful. Just let one of us know and we'll figure out the details.

Nate

Armando,
I can do ferry service of anything you need tonight. Drop me a PM, I have a large Minivan I can drive around to pick up water, etc.

M.

Armando, I'm truly sorry about all of this mess, and I realize that you have just gone through some issues with your setup a while back on top of it all. Alghough I don't live near to you, let me know if there is anything you need.

Armando - that is just awful. My heart goes out to you and your reef inhabitants.
I, too, would like to find out exactly what happened. Many of us are running similar equipment - and if there is a malfunction with any electrical equipment it could be important to warn everyone.

What it sounds like to me is an ALK spike. but I know you use a reactor to help avoid that problem.

Please keep us posted. I, too, have extra salt and water ready if you need it. I also have some frags for you when your system stabilizes.

Paula

Much appreciated. There's a lot in my mind right now but it's unlikely that i'll try to regrow this tank. I'll probably shut it down and keep the equipment and rock for a large tank project when i finally move to a house.

I am not sure if the snails survived, have to check when i get home. I kept the punctured probe & heater and some of the water if someone is interested in researching what could have happened. I think ALK spike is probably not the case I had very little kalk in the topoff container.
