Nano Advice Needed

I never had a nano see thread: http://www.bostonreefers.org/forums/showthread.php?p=899391#post899391

Can I keep the salinity at 1.020 with corals? I am worried about evaporation and with no auto-top yet I am going to be filling this with corals. How will fish and corals do in that salinity?

Any other advice? It wouldn't make sense to link the two because one will be carefully dosed for ALK/CA/MG, and the big tank just basically ALK/PH.

Consistency is your biggest worry with a nano. Evaporation & RO top-offs can bring your salinity down even more over time.

Any particular reason why you want 1.020?

ive seen a tank with 1.020 sg, it did not look good, fish were fine but coral were lacking

i think the reasoning is that he feels if he keeps it at 1.020 he's got a little bit more time to slack off before salinity reaches dangerous levels of 1.030+ ;)

just keep a bottle Poland springs or whatever you drink filled with RODI water next to the tank use a reference point on the tank to know where the water is supposed to be at and when the water evaporates off just pour in RODI water till it reaches said reference point and bang! your salinity is back to normal its not as bad as you may think I top mine off every day and I run 1.025
