nano reef project ?

I've been thinking a lot about putting together a cost effective nano reef . I would like to use a Mr aqua 12 gallon long rimless tank I think it would look nice all done but to make everything look clean I'm going to have to hide filtration in my rock work. What kind of filtration should I use ? Canister or something else

I had a 12g long (one of my favorite tanks ever) and didnt use any filtration other than a ball of chaeto in one back corner and water changes every two weeks.

Very cool setup!!

My Mr Aqua 11.4 is coming in today. I wanted the 12 gallon so bad, but no place to put it.

OP: I purchased a sheet of ABS plastic from which I hope to build an "overflow like" wall on the back to hide my equipment. I will use egg crate to create drip trays and usefilter pads and carbon for my filtration. I was going to power everything with a maxijet 1200 feeding 2 1/2" locline returns.

Just to give you some ideas.

No filtration? Things just got a lot cheaper and easier lol what did u do for flow ? Mp10?

Yup one mp10 for flow and a small heater hidden behind one of three rocks. It was up and running for well over a year with no problems ever. I eventually added an ATO also.

i thought about doing an overflow but thought in the 12 long it might take away from it. then i thought about building a "stand" thats not that tall and making a sump type thing. but then i thought i should keep it simple and either do no filter like u jarob and buying a tunze powerhead and they make a facke rock that goes around it and adding like rock to cover the wire. also i found a couple of mini canisters i could build a small box and just put over it behind the tank. if no filter worked as good as u say then ill probably do that .it will keep it cheap

ok i think imgoing with the bow front 13.3 the 12 long is just to long for on top of my dresser there wouldnt be any room left. so my next decision is a light im looking fo something sleek and not crazy expensive
