I couldn't edit my first post, so by the tile question i mean, is there any ones you think i should avoid? I have seen the flats at home depot but i wasnt sure about their makeup.
that must be the cheapest way to get a pile of frag plugs i ever saw. Great use of a non hobby item for a striking display.
Cant wait for more pics and updates. This is one inspiring setup. Very different than mine, but different is a good thing.
thank you for the kind words... they are greatly appreciated Jarrod
they are jus the basic 6x6 packed, 1' squares on the netting... i have some from both home depot and lowes, though i like the home depot ones better, they jus look more natural imo, unfortunately more are the ones from lowe's...
they are jus plain ceramic in make up... they might something else in them, but i havent looked into it, nor have i ever "cured" them... however i have never noticed or had any ill effects from the lowe's ones whatsoever, so i jus continue to do it the way i have been... i did noticed a little more algae growth for the first 2 weeks of using the home depot ones, but jus on the tiles themselves and no where else in the tank, so perhaps they could have used a little curing period, but even if i use them again, i may not even bother, it was no big deal imo... however if you ever decide to use them for any reason, you may want to consider it... i have one heck of a cleanup crew (15 large turbo's) in my display, and very very low nutrients, so i basically dont worry about algae at all... though i seem to get a bit of algae growth on my frag plugs as its not too easy for the large turbo's to navigate their way through frags and racks alike due to their size... imo, a tank without any algae growth whatsoever, is NOT a healthy system...
thank you again for the compliments... i really do get mixed reviews to say the least, however the negative one's arent usually put public on a forum... some people jus cant get past the fact that i am different and seem to be having some degree of success and insist i am doing things all wrong (little live rock, no bacterial supplement or dosing like mb7, vodka, or bioplellets, no calcium reactor, and jus the all around hands on, basic approach i take)
again, some people jus dont like my approach, and that is there choice... so it is very much appreciated when folks like you and the many others who have chimed in here, appreciate my husbandry and ideas... THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
