Need help with Live Sand

I am moving at the end of the month. The last time I moved, I kept all the live sand in the tank (I have a 29g JBJ nano), with just a tiny bit of water. It was heavy, but I was able to lift it myself, and it was very easy with two people. I had zero losses from the move, so I am considering doing it that way again.

On the other hand, I scratched the hell out of the glass when I was a brand new reefer, and it looks like hell. I called JBJ and I can buy a new tank (glass only) for just $79. I am thinking of getting new glass, and revamping the whole aquascape.

My question centers on the live sand. Can I use all of my old live sand, or should I only use some of it if I do this?

Last question...should I go with the black sand? What do people think of this? I know about the magnet and scratching issues, but since it was a mag cleaner that scrathed my glass in the first place, I am likely to get rid of it. Thanks.

you can re-use it. it should be fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about re using it. If it gets mixed up a lot, then I would give it a quick rinse. Otherwise I would leave as little water in there as possible during transfer. I would then fill it up a little with saltwater and then drain it down again to help remove any organics released into the water then fill it back up.
