new metal halide lights

I was wondering how lonh I should leave my ne MH lights on for . My corals have been under PC . I know they cannot be on for long in the beginning how long before you can leave them on for the full amount of time.I only have soft corals right now

i started at 4hr then 1/2 hr to an hr a day IMA. thats what i did PC to MH soft only

read somewhere that 6hrs (maybe less) is the most..after that your just wasting the juice! so what i do is have my PC Actinic on for 2hrs then MH (PC's off) for 6hrs then back to PC'S for 2 then totally off.. i also overlap the times so its not so abrupt

The best thing you can do is raise the lights extra high above the tank and every day lower them closer to your desired height or place several layers of screen or egg crate on the tank and remove a layer every day or 2

I find it easier to hang the light at the height you want and just jack up the tank closer to the light day by day.
